A Beautiful Location

Located in the Endless Mountains of Northern Pennsylvania (just minutes from the Pennsylvania

Grand Canyon in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania), His Thousand Hills (HTH) Christian Camp and Retreat

Center exists to glorify God, support Christian churches and ministries, and reach out to the local

community by hosting gospel-centered retreats, camps, conferences, and activities that help people

of all ages find Jesus Christ and grow in their faith.

Planted Gap Year, located at His Thousand Hills, is a 9-month Christian discipleship program that

cultivates a love and knowledge of God in young adults (ages 18-24) through biblical training, hands-

on farming, outdoor adventure, and life skill development. Students are grounded and grow in their

faith as they live, learn, and work within a small, tight-knit community of other young adults and staff.

A Unique Opportunity

Planted is new gap year program that will open for its first year in Fall 2022. We are seeking a food

services manager to develop this key component of our program. More than simply providing meals,

you will train and equip our small group of students to serve one another and prepare for life through

meal planning, preparation, and clean-up, all the while getting to know them and discipling them in

their walk with Christ.

During the summer and certain weekends during the school year, you will provide more traditional

food services for camps and retreat groups, coordinating a team of students and volunteers who are

assisting you. In all of this you will work to create an environment where mealtimes serve as a key

context for relationship-building and discipleship.

Is this where God is calling you?

We are seeking someone with a passion for Christ, people, and using food to show hospitality.

Having experience cooking for groups of people, managing multiple priorities, leading a small team,

and working with a budget are also important. As part of the discipleship staff, it is essential for this

person to be actively engaged in the camp and gap year community, demonstrate high integrity and a

lifestyle consistent with the teachings of the Bible, communicate the love of Christ through their

interactions, and be accountable to and active in a church congregation.

As with our other staff roles, we are asking this position to work with our team to raise

support/funding for their salary. HTH and Planted will provide housing, utilities, and a stipend.

Please submit a cover letter and resume to David Feister at david@plantedgapyear.org or contact

him to request more information.
